Make your biking voice heard
For many of us, cycling is not a leisure activity but our daily means of transport. We believe cycling is good for the environment and good for health, and that it should be encouraged by society. At present, cycling in Aberystwyth is difficult, dangerous and so effectively discouraged. So, we are working together towards a town that is bike friendly and safe for us, our children, visitors and everyone else. Join us!

the 'Carbon Cycle' will involve the Welsh Youth Forum on Sustainable Development,
Woodcraft Folk, Scouts, and Grŵp Beic Aberystwyth. The ride of more than 125 miles

A Winter's Tale of Critical Mass Bike Rides!
Posted on: 22nd September 2007
As the university term starts, welcome to all new and returning cyclists! On
the last Friday of every month there is a Critical Mass bike ride starting
at 6pm from opposite the Glengower Hotel (The Glen) on the seafront. The
ride has a friendly, carnival atmosphere and everyone is welcome. The point
is to highlight the need for more cycle lanes and provision for cyclists
generally in Aberystwyth. Cycling is a sustainable form of transport! The
dates of the next few rides are 28th September, 26th October, 30th November.
August Critical Mass
Posted on: 30th August 2007
As usual on Friday 31th August we start at 6pm from opposite the
Forestry Commission offices on the seafront. The ride around town
takes about an hour. Banners and signs about the need for cycle lanes
and the environmental benefits of cycling are good. Also, to maintain
a carnival atmosphere you could attach balloons to your bike, wear
bright coloured clothing etc.
The next ride will be on Friday
29th September - starting same time, same place - .
Extra special critical mass ride
Posted on: 6th June 2007
On Friday 22nd June Grwp Beic Aberystwyth will participate in an extra
special critical mass ride to celebrate Bike Week, 16th - 24th June. The ride will depart from opposite the Glengower Hotel
on the seafront at 6pm. Everybody is
most welcome to join us in a laid-back communal ride around our town. We would
also like to ask motorists to continue with the support
they have given the regular critical mass rides, which start at the same
time and place on the last Friday of every month. Please do give bikes room
and be patient; we simply want cycle lanes and the space to ride in safety
for the good of our health and the environment.
